Vernon Hills 2, Chicago Amundsen 0. That’s the forfeit score. The precedent was set Monday when Kelvyn Park from the Chicago Public League didn’t travel to Vernon Hills and took a forfeit loss. Why not another?
Fenton 50, Wauconda 45.
Class 4A
Warren 69, Mundelein 68. These teams just played and Warren won by 20. It will be different this time. Note that in the News-Sun online poll, Warren was picked to beat Zion-Benton and win the Barrington Sectional. The Devils’ tourney run starts now.
Lake Forest 59, Waukegan 50. You want to believe the Bulldogs will rally to the cause and avert a losing season (they’re currently 12-13). But Lake Forest is pretty good.
A few observations from the Zion/Libertyville Regional Semi on Tuesday:
1) Kudos to the Zee-Bee team and fans for competing with class. Unfortunately the same can not be said of the team and fans on the other side.
2)Jeremy Letchford of Libertyville is flying under the radar. He is going to make some college coach very happy in a couple of years.
3) There is only one team that can keep the Zee Bees from going to Peoria ..... that team is Zion. If thay play their game, no one will beat them.
Two out of three ain't bad...the problem with Friday night, as I see it, is which game to attend. For me, it's the Bees...but for the average high school basketball junkie, there are too many good games to choose from! Basketball is awesome this season!!!
