Where are we going to put all the people?

Wednesday night, Zion-Benton High will play at North Chicago in the North Suburban Conference boys basketball championship game. Between Zion, Waukegan, North Chicago and Gurnee, there are at least 8,000 people who would pay the five bucks to watch that game in a gym that holds about 1,800.

On top of that, North Chicago High graduate Michael Turner is going to have his Warhawk football jersey number retired in pre-game ceremonies. There are hundreds of kids in North Chicago alone who would love to see that and meet Mr. Turner.

Jim Hentchel, athletic director at North Chicago High, is going to have his hands full figuring out what to do on Wednesday.

To his credit, he said he contacted Waukegan High to see if the game could be played in the Dog Pound, which can hold 3,500, but he said talks regarding that didn’t go far.

Give the man credit for trying.

I’ll give him even more credit if he saves me a seat – and a parking spot – on Wednesday night.

Isn't Turner's jersey being retired on Thursday night?

Waukegan's AD is losing that school out on some much needed money. They already dont have sectionals. That place would have been standing room only. I guess im going to leave for North Chicago after school tomorrow that might be what it takes to get a seat.
