Going the distance for Z-B Hoops

It would be interesting to see just how far away people live who were ZBTHS grads and were following the team's success in the tournament. Like, were people in Arizona trying to get updates on the games? When something like this happens, it always seems like you discover there are alumni everywhere.

Kind of like Cubs fans ... they're everywhere.

I graduated from ZBTHS in 1946. I read the News Sun online and knowing that Zion has been pretty much a leader in the basketball sport, bagan following this years team early on. When finally they were headed to the finals and wanting to hear the results, the night of the final game I browsed the net like crazy to find a radio station that was broadcasting this far out (Springfield, Missouri). I don't remember the radio station, but sure enough I found one and from the second quarter on I heard it all.Away out here, be assured that grads are also proud of the achievements of this team. Well done ZeeBees.
I to like Ken and Anne Miller, was an early game attender away back when there were the White brothers, Charlie Sieloff, Ken Mitchell, Burt Fredrickson and others running the floor. A community thing. What now does the future hold for this hotbed of basketball talent?

Lived in Zion for 28 years and relocated to Litchfield Park, AZ in 1987. Joined some good friends of mine from the Zion area last year for March Madness and decided then that I would continue the trip every year. What a bonus I received this year with the Zee Bees being there. Even though they fell a little short in the final, they were a great team and certainly showed a lot of class in the win on Friday as well as in the loss on Saturday. Zion and Lake County should be very proud of those young men as well as their coaches. Congratulations to Coach Kloth and his assistants and the great ZB team of 2007 - 2008. Looking forward to March Madness again next year and hopefully will see the Bees there again.

I am a 2004 graduate of Zion, and am a senior in college at Taylor University in Indiana. For me, the 5 hour drive from rural Indiana through rural Illinois was well-worth it to see the Bees play on Saturday in Peoria.

I think ZB alumni all over were cheering for the Zee Bee's!
My two uncles in Alabama and my aunt in Florida, who are all alumni, were listening to the game on IHSA radio.
It was a great run in Peoria! We couldn't be more proud of this fine Zee Bee team!
See you in 2009 in Peoria!!

I'm a 1980 graduate of ZBTHS and have been following the ZeeBees this season here in Colorado. I had the fortune of seeing Billy McKinney play his last high school and college games, as well as seeing him play for the Denver Nuggets. Having been an assistant high school soccer coach whose team made it to the state semifinals, I understand the excitement and commitment of competing at such a high level. From what I've read, the young men on this team should be very proud of the way they have played all season. But they should be even prouder of their character and teamwork. Much praise should also go to Coach Kloth and his staff who have taught their players that more important than winning, is being a winner. Best of luck to all of you.
