There’s a reason Zion-Benton and North Chicago were awarded No. 1 seeds in their respective sectional tournaments, and tonight we’ll that reason will become very evident.
Class 4A Barrington Sectional semifinal:
Zion-Benton 71, Buffalo Grove 59. Funny thing about this tournament is that before it started, the teams we in The Locker Room were worrying about from a Zion-Benton point of view were Warren and Stevenson.
That’s called being lucky as well as good.
The Bison love to shoot the 3-ball, but they’ll have trouble getting open looks against a swarming defense.
Class 3A Anticoh Sectional semifinal:
North Chicago 61, Chicago Senn 54: In The Locker Room, we can see the Warhawks nervous at the start and getting about 5 points in the entire first quarter and maybe 21 in the whole first half.
But during intermission, the Hawks will exhale and bag the first sectional victory since their current coach – King Coleman – was playing for North Chicago back in 1972.
So far in this tournament, The Locker Room chatter is 14-3 in picking winners.
It should be 20-3 after Friday night.
Jeff ...you should do a bit more reseach before you write and print the stuff you do....the North Chicago boys basketball program won several sectional games from 1976 thru 1981, far after the "king " Coleman had graduated from North Chicago High School....in fact the teams that eliminated North Chcago from the sectional state tournament in those close games all went to the elite eight ...get it right or don't print it.....people believe the stuff you write......and it shines more light on the KING than he deserves......tom
You gotta luv coach Gregorin for setting the record straight, especially since him & Mr Broughton were coaching then. See you on the courts coach DLP class of 83.
