Now that North Chicago High graduate Michael Turner has signed his six-year, $34.5 million contract to be the featured running back wiith the terrible Atlanta Falcons, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds
Recent history has shown that when backup running backs in the NFL leave their team to become the featured back on another club, that it doesn’t always work out the way the player and team would have hoped.
Here’s hoping Mike is an exception to the trend of running backs going bust after they become the featured back on a squad through free agency.
Turner’s problem with the Falcons is going to be that the team is really bad, and there is no established quarterback to direct a quality passing game, which means Turner might be running against defenses stacked to stop HIM.
That’s the fastest way in the NFL to get injured.
Here’s hoping Michael leads the NFC in rushing next fall and helps the Falcons reach the NFC Championship game … where they lose to the Bears, of course.
