Here in The Locker Room, we actually were more impressed with the Zion-Benton fans -- quantity, enthusiasm, basketball knowledge, behavior -- than we were with the team finishing second in the basketball tournament.
A tip of the Zee-Bee cap to everyone who made this weekend one that card-carrying members of the Z-B Nation will remember forever.
In my mind the Zee Bees are the State Champions. They were the best team out on the floor. If the game had been called the way it should have been at that level, we really would have seen what our players could do. Looking at the stats Richards was given a little help AND couldn't take advantage of it. In the free throw area Richards shot 4 shots to our 1 and still never had a big lead on the Zee Bees at any given time. Look at all the stats. IHSA officials should have noticed this trend and taken care of it at half time. SHAME ON THEM!

I caught myself today saying..."Hey Hey that is my high school!" 250 miles away, someone was talking about THE half court shot and I shouted with pride even adding "Yep, those were my boys!". I couldn't have been more proud of the boys on the court, the fans, and Mr. Kloth (THAT IS KLOTH...long o, not cloth...my old history teacher). What a ride!
