Z-B coach deserves lot of credit for what's happening

One of the hardest things for a coach to do is get a group of extremely talented players to sacrifice personal glory for the good of the team. Yet, that's exactly what Don Kloth has been able to do with this group of Zion-Benton High basketball players.

There are five guys on the team who would be big-time stars on most every other program in our area.

Yet, somehow, they've learned to play together and turn the sum of the individual parts into something greater than their individual talents would suggest.

That's the sign of a coach who's doing a heckuva job.

A tip of the Zee-Bee cap to D.K. AND the players for making this happen..

I beg to differ a lot on this. Bobby Worthington should be congratulated more than Kloth. I have personally watched Kloth ruin talented teams with horrendous coaching. See the past two super sectional results. Tonights game, ZB was CLEARLY 1,000% more talented and more athletic than Schaumburg. First off, no real set plays. They should have been running some sort of motion and feeding the post. There seem to be no real set plays, just ronald or rodney driving the lane and either shooting or finding one of the big guys open.

I am definitely glad they won, and think they are winning in spite of lousy coaching. The first thing this team should be doing is shooting 100 free throws a day, maybe more. They are atrocious at the line, and were again tonight. They are going to find themselves in a close game either in Dekalb or down state against better teams and need to start making some free throws.

If Zion had better coaching over the years I believe they would have already been down state and perhaps even a title won.
