Leave the King alone in NC

Way too much Locker Room chatter regarding the hiring practices for coaches at North Chicago High, with King Coleman coming under siege in some quarters.
Truth is, King managed to keep almost all his players academically eligible for all of last season, which is no easy feat. Not only that, but his team won 25 games.
The guess is that King spends more time with his players during non-school and non-practice situations than he does at the regular school/practice times.
Coaching at NC High is not easy and it certainly isn't like coaching at other schools in our a area.
Do we like King in The Locker Room. That's obvious.
But more importantly, we respect him for the job he's trying to do for the NC kids.

Just curious... what exactly is being called to question about the hiring process?

some are not happy regarding who was selected as new varsity fb coach and also who was selected to head the varsity girls and boys track programs. There actually was a committee formed to select a new fb coach and reportedly the recommended guy from the committee was not the guy chosen to be coach. Hence, some are wondering the point of the committee.

Was the committee actually present at the interviews of the football coach? I personally do not see any problem with the hiring of Darryl King. I think he will be a great leader and role model for those boys. Plus, the rest of the staff for the most part was on with Grenda, so what's the fuss? Nonsense. Let people talk later in the season if the team does not live up to it's standards which are high due to some fine talent on the team this year. I don't think there will be much to talk about.

In The Locker Room, we have high hopes for Darryl King. The main reason is that he's coached at the lower levels all the players who are on this year's varsity squad, which means he already knows what this group can do. The fear in The Locker Room is that with season-opening road games at state-powerhouses Marian Central in Woodstock and Chicago Simeon (about a 3-hour bus ride on a Friday afternoon) to far south side of Chicago, that the Hawks will stagger out of the blocks 0-2 and that fans and players will lose confidence in the coach. If ever a team needed to start the season on a positive note, it's this one.

whats a joke coach king is. He should not have been the coach to begin with and it shows on the field. with as much talent as they have he is a terrible X' and O's coach. He called Grenda two weeks intot he season to ask him about blocking schemes. He is the O line coach and he does not know what to do? what a joke!

There was a reason Coach King was on the lower levels last year. he is a terrible coach. There is a reason the OC was the WR coach last year. It shows on the field with the new spread offense they put in. The reason they put it in is to "score" more points. That was said to the kids. Now that I look at it Carmel, Antioch, Vernon Hills dont have trouble scoring points with the option. That just shows you that this new guy doesn't have a clue on what he is doing. Quit King and make sure North Chicago's water is safe and let the coaching to the qualified people.
