Brett Fave will never play QB for Green Bay again.
Kyle Orton will start at QB for the Bears in Thursday's preseason game against KC.
Favre .... Orton.
OK Bear fans: How much would you pay in draft choices to have Brett Favre behind center for the Bears when they face the mighty Colts on opening night?
A first-round draft pick? A first and a third? A first, a third and a fifth?
Tough call regarding a 39-year-old QB, albeit one who never gets hurt.
In The Locker Room, we would like to see the Bears trade no more than a second round and a third-round draft pick for Favre. And the move needs to be done soon becuase the regular season starts in another month.

I can't see Green Bay trading Favre to any NFC North opponent. It would be a PR nightmare.
As nice as it would be to have a QB of Favre's caliber on the Bears, we have to consider how effective he would truly be. As it stands right now, the Bears have no LT (our 1st round draft pick is injured and has done absolutely nothing in training camp), a weak and inexperienced WR corps, and a rookie starting at RB. The only strength on the Bears' offensive side of the ball is the TE position. Due to a lack of weapons, just how successful would Favre be?
If I'm Favre, there's no way I would want to come here. The defense is good enough to win, but he would have to do it ALL by himself on offense. That's a tough proposition. Even if he shouldered the load, this is not a championship-caliber team.
Favre would be a rent-a-player, so there's no way I would give up a first round draft pick for him. If I felt we had all of the pieces in place and were just missing a QB, then I might be willing to pay the price. But since that's clearly not the case, I wouldn't give up any higher than a third rounder.
In The Locker Room, we would want Favre to give a two-year commitment to the Monsters of the Midway. Which, given Favre's propensity to retire each year, might be an iffy proposition. In any case, that would give the Monsters a chance to draft a QB in Round 1 next April. The rookie could then spend a year learning under Favre in2009 and take the reins in 2010. Don't know how much more of Orton/Grossman we can take. In the NFL, it's possible to move from worst-to-first and first-to-worst pretty quickly and I think a Favre -type QB, as opposed to getting Phil Simms from the Buccos, would be a good fix.
But, Bears must keep their No. 1 draft pick for next year to pick replacement QB.
By the way, it is almost unbelievable that the No. 1 d raft pick this year is a bust two weeks into camp.
