'A shot at Love' reality TV show unlike Rickleff's stint

If you watched VH1's "A Rock of Love" over the summer, you probably know who Jes Rickleff is. Rickleff, a Naperville native, won the competition. She was charming and respectable in the midst of, well, a group of women that should be relegated to bowling alleys and Jerry Springer auditions.

But now VH1 has followed up with another reality program called "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila"

It is a bisexual competition, pitting men against men and women against women for a shot to date Tequila, a pseudo-celebrity know primarily for posing in Maxim. There is heavy violence in this series, heavy drinking, lots of sex and other obsurdities.

So what I'm wondering is whether the American public will ever grow tired of reality TV? Isn't it redundant, predictable and completely fabricated?

Rickleff is most popular with grammar school and high school children; does that mean they are also watching this show?

Will the American public ever grow tired of reality TV?

This show stinks. I couldn't believe when I watched it that they were going to say how in love they were tila.

What a joke.

SO yes, reality tv stinks but that's all we have now.

I hope they're not watching it - the first one was just about borderline for my taste. But, never underestimate the intelligence of the American viewing audience. I would bet that a live execution would get the highest ratings ever. So this show will probably be a big hit.

It’s too much, this show. I saw the previews and girls were going at each other. Guys were slugging each other.

It’s good thing jes is not in this show; they’re skanks. I don’’t know how she would keep a decent reputation.

I won't watch Tequila, I checked out Rock of Love when I saw one of the finalists was from Naperville and was appalled at how vulgar that show was. I'm happy for the girl from Naperville and glad she has a reputation for being sweet but from what I saw of the show, there's no way anyone should let their kids watch.

I think there are new areas that these shows haven't yet explored, like a reality show "pentathlon." During the course of a season, a contestant will compete for points on five different events. 1) Diet and exercise to lose a fast 50 pounds. 2) Win the love of a self-absorbed bachelorette. 3) Sing your way into America's heart. 4) Race around the globe while solving clues. 5) Endure living in a house or desert island with 12 completely psychotic roommates.

First prize is a t-shirt that reads: "I must be the center of attention"

I think most of these shows are pretty depraved. I did watch Rock Of Love because I am a huge Poison fan and Jes actually impressed me with her standards and class.

As for "reality" TV. Like everything else, there are some good shows and some bad. The problem is that a lot of these shows (The Real World, A Shot At Love etc) are aimed at teen viewers who don't have enough "real world" experience to tell that most of the people on these shows are starved for their 15 minutes of shame. I'm just as guilty as everyone else for watching, though. I absolutely can't get enough of Intervention. Nothing like watching the train wrecks that people call lives to boost your own self esteem.

I can deal with nudity, obscene language if there is a central point. Not this show.

I cna't believe parents allow there children to even watch this crap.

ANd who is Tila Tequila anyway? How does this validate a celebrity?

Remember 10 years ago when tv stations actually had to work to put together their programming? Does anyone out there know if a major network station is taking a stance against reality tv?

I honestly like the show
its interesting & exciting
and its so funny how they're like 'im in love with tila!'
and this other crap
what idiots honestly..
and half of these people are just attention cravers who need to get over themselves
and when something happens that makes they're life screw up, its their fault in the fist place
