There's a stroke of genius in the brand known as Britney Spears. While she could pass as a sexy pop star, she mostly assumes the role of has-been toting a milkshake.
The fascination with Britney, her family and her friends seems to extend to networks outside MTV and tabloids; it's found its way in mainstream news. Again police had to handle another dispute for the pop princess, also citing she had been under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
The coverage continues.
But shouldn't this be the year that America shuns Britney Spears?
Will you?
Please make it stop.
Britney spears is on my tv and in my magazines more than any other person alive. I don't get it. It's make this country go backwards.
A menace to society? Maybe. I’m not sure what we are glorifying when it comes to the girl who danced in a Catholic School Girl uniform at 17 and now wonder why she and her family are a mess.
It’s a case study for celebrity worship.
You might make a good point about Spears…but there’s no way we’re going to see any less of her, and the be clear, I don’t know if I want to see any less.
I firmly believe that we are witnessing the events leading up to a celebrity death. The pace at which she is unraveling is quite disturbing. I truly can't stand Britney, Lindsay and Paris. I am like everyone else, tired of hearing their names on the "news". That being said, I feel bad for Britney. She is clearly in a downward spiral.
can you even imagine how the u.s. looks to other countries? it's as if we really can't find anything more relevant to think about.
on the off chance that britney didn't have mental or emotional problems before, she's in a fishbowl now we're all tapping on the glass.
we should let her alone and spend our time elsewhere. it might be easier for her to recover from her problems without our scrutiny. and we might all go out and get another hobby!
MITCHELL RESPONDS: I'm thinking that many Americans area interested in celebrities because they are the closest thing we have to royalty. However, it's because their imperfections are so glaring, we can't help but watch.
I agree. Enough already. It's really kind of sick how we keep focusing on such a pathetic individual when there are soo many other worthy things to discuss.
