If you believe the Oscars are there to kiss up to the year's biggest box office killers, then you're wrong.
There are myriad shows that fans can get their kicks from --Golden Globes, etc.--but the Oscars are devoted to the finest in film. Sometimes that's not always what we want, especially with this year's Best Picture Nominees.
Did the academy get it right this year?
I loved the films this year, except for "Atonement," which I thought was boring, and "There Will be Blood," which I haven't seen yet.
Come on! Are you kiddin me? Just because the academy says so doesn't make them right. A bunch of movies that no one has saw is just what they wanted. It pretends to make them look smart and really all it does is anger the movie going people.
Why didn't Knocked Up or American Gangster get an award?
Mike, you lost me on this one.
Here's an advantage of the awards: Many folks get curious about the nominees and will wind up seeing something they wouldn't have watched otherwise. I saw "Juno" a couple of weeks ago for that same reason and loved it.
