Mike Mitchell : January 2008 Archives

What game?

If the Super Bowl were just a game, then what’s with all the women wearing pink football jerseys, holding a bowl of spinach dip, asking everyone why Tom Brady doesn’t play on defense?

Everyone--even non-football fans--is in on the fun.

It’s much larger than you think, with the average 30-second ad going for $2.7 million this year.

If you haven't noticed, cable TV is increasingly an expensive luxury in our lives.

Naperville's prices are nearly 24 percent higher than the national average and yet we are still waiting for competition to come into area. It isn't asking much for fair competition, but does it have to take this long?

Will politics get in the way?

It's clear that Naperville's entertainment district hasn't grown at the pace that the city has.

Many might defer to part of the downtown area as the main attraction, but Naperville is bigger than that. We've drawn national praise for myriad reasons. Why isn't there an arena where A-list talent can perform?

Where's the big-stage performers?

As Britney Spears continues her freefall, it’s becoming increasingly clear she is not going to turn things around any time soon. Some have insinuated she is suffering from bipolar disorder.

Others blame the drugs.

Whatever the cause, there will be a drastic effect. As with other legendary celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and John Belushi, their spastic behavior and drug-use led to their deaths.

If Spears ever does reach those depths, who is to blame?

The paparazzi are vindictive and ruthless. Many have pointed the finger at the paparazzi for Princess Diana’s death.

They are without regard for humanity and welcome a demise—and no one seems to have a better one going than Spears.

But if this demise continues in the direction its going, shouldn’t they shoulder some of the blame?

You know people are influenced by what they watch on TV.

So do you believe the writers strike will affect the election?

Why?

There's a stroke of genius in the brand known as Britney Spears. While she could pass as a sexy pop star, she mostly assumes the role of has-been toting a milkshake.

The fascination with Britney, her family and her friends seems to extend to networks outside MTV and tabloids; it's found its way in mainstream news. Again police had to handle another dispute for the pop princess, also citing she had been under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.

The coverage continues.

But shouldn't this be the year that America shuns Britney Spears?

Will you?
