It is all the talk around town - Waubonsie Valley and Neuqua Valley going head-to-head tonight in the heart of downtown Naperville at North Central College to compete for bragging rights.
As always the football rivalry between the two schools remains heated with trash talking coming from both sides. The taunting for this highly anticipated match up started as early as last February, when the Neuqua men's basketball team devastatingly defeated the Warriors in the semi-sectionals to end the Waubonsie's great season. Characteristically, Waubonsie's fans just wouldn't stand for it and immediately chanted,"Wait until football! Wait until football!" Ever since then Facebook groups have started and are full of school pride and trash talk against the opposing school.
Being a part of the student body at Waubonsie, I'm very involved and full of Warrior pride. I know the importance of this game and what it means to bring home a victory. Especially considering how Waubonsie beat Neuqua last year in stylish fashion and that never in the history of this rivalry have the Warriors pulled off consecutive victories.
Although Waubonsie's 0-3 record nor Neuqua's 1-2 record are very pleasing to fans on either side, both teams know that they can lose every game, but if they win this game then all the other losses mean nothing. This is the game all the students, players and fans talk about. In the end, this game determines who gets to control bragging rights for the rest of the year and for Waubonsie, a second victory is school history.
I think we should all wait until the real rivalry in 2 weeks until we start talking about "the talk of the town, in the heart of downtown naperville" the two REAL naperville teams will play at 5-0 respectively, and then i can expect blogs like this to come up
not sure central's going to be there at 5 and 0,wwhs next week is going to be tough. if central gives them a good game, nnhs should look out, they do have talent at nchs, not too big, and not too fast, but they seem to be playing with alot of heart. next few weeks will tell their future. good qb, and some good receivers. decent back, the defense has been a great surprise. aw heck, i will predict central beats wwhs by 10.
not by any means will central beat wws by 10, central goes down 28-14...
