Tyler Castro knew he eventually wanted to get into coaching, but first he had to find the right school. The Waubonsie Valley quarterback ultimately chose Drake over Eastern Illinois, with the hopes of majoring in special education and then latching on as a graduate assistant.
"I think the ultimate thing is, they really showed the most interest in me," Castro said Wednesday. "All the advice I had, from all the people helping me, (was): 'Go where you're wanted.' That was pretty obvious that they wanted me more than Eastern did."
Castro spoke with Bulldogs coach Chris Creighton about one day applying for a position as a graduate coaching assistant within the program, which plays in what was formerly known as Division I-AA.
"If there's an opening, I'll definitely do my best to kind of jump on that," Castro said. "(The) position at Drake is pretty good. You're (not) just the guy getting the coffee for the coaches."
