Nick Linne.jpgNaperville North, Waubonsie Valley and Naperville Central - that's Redhawks quarterback Nick Linne pictured above - are scheduled to compete in the Raider Passing Jamboree on July 18 at Bolingbrook. The Saturday morning event begins at 9. Here's the list of teams expected to be in attendance:

Herald News writer Ron Kremer has a nice feature up on former Bolingbrook head coach Phil Acton, who still organizes the offseason football activities at the school. It's become a destination for some of the top programs in the state.

"When I retired, the first thing John said to me was, 'You'll still run the summer stuff for me, right?'" Acton recalled of the conversation he had with his Bolingbrook football successor, current Raiders coach John Ivlow.

"I said, 'Why not?'" Acton said. "I've been doing this for 30 years now. It started with Bill Zimmer (the ex-Lockport coach) and I working together back in 1980. In that first year, we went one night at his place and one night at mine.

"It's grown every year, to the point where it is now. We have 48 teams (in the Raider Passing Jamboree) and I had to turn down 15 or 16 others."

Naperville North is one of 14 teams scheduled to participate in Bolingbrook's 7-on-7 competition on Tuesday. It's the second of five consecutive Tuesday night sessions that run through July 21.

Here's Tuesday's expected field, as provided by former Bolingbrook head coach Phil Acton:

Bolingbrook
Lockport
Plainfield Central
Plainfield East
Lockport
East Aurora
Naperville North
Proviso East
Chicago Dunbar
Chicago Robeson
Chicago Curie
Chicago Harlan
Chicago Manley
Chicago Raby
