It must sting a little.
Junior forward Cameron Fairbairn made an impact play during Oswego East's overtime win against Neuqua Valley on Tuesday, but he didn't do it for the team you might expect.
Fairbairn, who's older brother Jordan graduated from Neuqua last year, grabbed a key rebound for Oswego East. It came after Neuqua junior Nolan Brown missed a go-ahead jumper with about four seconds remaining in overtime.
Neuqua senior Danny Pawelski immediately fouled Fairbairn, and he made one of two foul shots to give the Wolves a 52-50 lead with two seconds left. Fairbairn's rebound not only prevented Neuqua from taking the lead on the previous possession but also made it difficult for the Wildcats to go the length of the floor on their final possession.
Fairbairn played with the Wolves last year at the same time Jordan Fairbairn was playing for Neuqua. Because it was Jordan's senior season, he was allowed to stay with the Wildcats.
The Wolves, who trailed by nine at one point, stole the win, 52-50, as well as the younger Fairbairn.
