If you have the urge to celebrate Irish American heritage, and a hankering that is equal parts Ditka and corned beef, boyo, I have an event for you.
Former Bears coach, and current purveyor of all that isn't nailed down, Mike Ditka will be the keynote speaker for something called "Senator Cronin's Annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner" on Friday night in Oakbrook Terrace.
This is happening on the same day that a huge bratwurst is getting dropped from the heavens. The culinary winds are blowing our way friends.
While I don't have any actual knowledge of the event beyond the email press release, I am willing to guess that Senator Cronin's politics agree with Da Coach. Also, I am willing to bet that this event doesn't happen if the location of said celebration of Irish American heritage isn't going down less than two miles from Ditka's restraunt in Oakbrook Terrace.
Now if you're not on board with this event yet, first of all, I don't know what to do with you. Secondly, here's a bonus. Bears punter Brad Maynard will also be in attendance. Yes, the very same Bears punter voted "sexiest" on the 2007 team.
Is that the sound of you driving to Oakbrook Terrace? I thought so.

Best. Post. Ever.
