On the eve of the water polo season, the Heat Index brings you the preseason list of the top 10 players in the area for boys and girls, thanks to the kind folks at illpolo.com.

These rankings are according to the preseason All-Illpolo teams. The Heat Index could make up its own rankings, but there is a good chance those would be a long the lines of an undeducated guess.

As you might have read earlier, Naperville Central's Kara Wilson is poised to become the school's all-time leading scorer. She is the lone area player named to the illpolo.com first team.

Here is the rest of the girls top 10: Kathleen Patterson (Neuqua Valley), Sam Virella (Central), Chelsea Reczek (Neuqua), Bailey Gucinski (Waubonsie Valley), Erin Gibson (Naperville North), Claire Fleming (Central), Emily Wooten (Central), Sam Shamburek (Central) and Brittany Jadwin (Neuqua).

On the boys side, there were four players selected to the All-Illpolo team: Naperville North's Conor Handley, Waubonsie's Jim Zuponeck, Neuqua's John Mikuzis and Central's Tyler Kelley.

Here's the rest of the top 10: Bobby Rickert (Central), Ben Reasons (Central), Mark Menis (Central), Jackson Hill (North), Christian Flessner (North) and Mark Guiliani (Central).

Who is getting robbed here? Probably the next person on the list.
