This quote in the Sun-Times from Neuqua Valley boys volleyball coach Erich Mendoza could mean a couple different things.
"We scouted a lot of teams prior to the tournament and we all felt that Glenbard East was the best team we saw," Mendoza said. "To beat them says a lot about our guys."
So if the best is out, that means the Wildcats, who beat the best, are now the best. Right?
It's possible Neuqua hadn't scouted all eight teams prior to the state quarterfinals on Friday night. So there is plausible deniability for Mendoza.
You know, no offense No. 1 Providence Catholic. Nothing personal, defending state champ Wheaton Warrenville South.
I do think that the Wildcats are better than Buffalo Grove. The Heat Index is completely confident that the Bison are a lesser opponent than Glenbard East.
We'll see in about an hour.
