About a month ago, Naperville Central graduate Kyle Kaminska had a rough go of it when he allowed 12 runs on 13 hits. Since then, Kaminska has been dealing well for the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
He struck out eight over five innings on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits, including a home run to the first batter he faced.
On July 5, the right-hander had a career-high nine strikeouts for the Class A affilliate of the Florida Marlins. He struck out five without a walk on July 10, although he did allow 10 hits. On July 15, he struck out four without a walk to go with four hits and one earned run.
All told, Kaminska has held South Atlantic League hitters to seven earned runs over his last 22 1/3 innings.
That works out to an ERA of 2.82 in his last four starts.
