I saw something encouraging during Sunday's 7-1 Cubs' win over the Cardinals. I know it's just one game and it's happened before this season, but if the Cubs can do this on a regular basis it will go a long way in keeping the season on the right track..
Kerry Wood stunk the joint out on Saturday, blowing a lead as the Cubs lost 5-4. He sat on the bench on Sunday, getting a day off to decompress.
Sean Marshall pitched a solid six innings with Neal Cotts, Carlos Marmol and Bob Howry each pitching an inning in relief to wrap up a victory.
The middle relievers came through and the closer was able to get some rest. The team didn't rely on the same one or two pitchers to put a lock on the victory.
The Cubs need to make this a habit.game in and game out.
