That may not be the correct comparison, but cross country, like boxing, is a sport and Rocky, like The Long Green Line, is a movie.
The documentary about the cross country program at York High School and coach Joe Newton was not sent to The Heat Index for review. But a press release did find its way into our inbox.
Following York during the 2005 season, which ended in the program's 25th state title, the film sets out to show why more than 200 kids who have no chance of running in a varsity event still practice with the team. Again, we haven't seen the film, but we think it has something to do with Joe Newton.
The Long Green Line will premiere at the York Theatre in Elmhurst on Aug. 16.
