U17 World Cup update

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Technical problems in New Zealand prevented Neuqua Valley senior Alexa Gaul from transmitting her first blog entry for The Heat Index. But that's the least of the concerns for Gaul, the goalie for the U-17 U.S. women's national team competing in the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Gaul, a Texas recruit, suffered a foot injury during training camp, one that became serious enough to keep her on the sidelines for the U.S. opener against Japan. The U.S. probably could have used her considering the 3-2 loss.

Gaul has been on crutches for several days and her status for the next game is still uncertain. We're still hoping to hear directly from Gaul, but keep an eye on the Heat Index for periodic updates as the World Cup continues.
