It's hard to comprehend the strategy of Craig Stebic's attorney, Dion Davi. First, he files a motion asking a court to grant Craig sole custody of the two children while their mother remains missing. Then, when the motion is tossed, he proceeds to depict Lisa as a bad mother.
She's missing, for crying out loud. And every friend, coworker, family member and neighbor says Lisa would never just up and leave her children. She stayed in the same house as her estranged husband amidst a difficult divorce, after all, so as not to disrupt her children's routine. Even the Plainfield police chief now says they have to be open to the possibility that Lisa encountered foul play.
So, it would be completely out of character for Lisa to run off and abandon her children. If she had, she'd need some money; credit cards, something to get by. No sign of that. It's possible some random stranger abducted her. She just doesn't seem to have left voluntarily.
But that's not how Davi sees it. Outside court this week Craig's lawyer described Lisa as a "runaway" and questioned her parenting abilities. He expressed doubt that Lisa is responsible enough to care for her own children.
Whoa. I'm not hearing anyone else express similar concerns about Lisa's parenting. I'm not even hearing anyone say Craig is a bad father. He probably loves his children. That's why I find it so bizarre that anyone would question a missing person's parenting abilities, and be the sole voice calling Lisa a bad mom when no one knows yet where she is or why she vanished.
Is this a common legal tactic in divorces? This is no longer an ordinary divorce. I wonder whether it's ethical for an attorney to be making such statements, given the situation.
With the latest news. that Craig wont let his children be interviewed by the police, to me really sheds some light here. I could see if it was the media, but come on now, this is the police, and wether he did or didnt do anything to Lisa, maybe the kids could help. Maybe they know something. What is he hidiing, that the children couldnt talk to the police. Is he being threatening to the kids now?????
Leaves a bad taste in my mouth! Remember the Scott Peterson case? He wouldnt go on tv, or take a lie detector test. Where is he now??? Death Row.

I think it is disgusting to say that Lisa is abandoning her children. She is missing...not a runaway... People who know her say that she would never leave her children.
Whenever a wife turns up missing, and the husband does not want to cooperate, it is surely a sign of "foul play" on the husbands side. And then to make matters worse, Mr. Stebic tries to get "sole" custody of the children.That move speaks volumes.By not cooperatin with the police, he just makes himself look more guilty. And living in the same home while going through a contentious divorce, is a "recipe for disaster".It's just a matter of time, before they find Lisa, and he is arrested for her murder. And in the end, who suffers the most.The children. Both parents are taken away.

Why would a lawyer attack her character when she is not here to defend herself. Just like the marriage she has been fighting the attacks on her character. This is not a smart move by the lawyer for the kids sake. Character is magnified under stress. Some people have no insight?? Good question the attorney should ask of his client. Hoping for the best outcome for the family.

He must not be much of a reporter -- all of the local gossiping hens are clucking about getting the children away from Craig "before he snaps". Ted might also peruse this very blog for those sort of comments, too.
Bad form writing an opinion piece about an ongoing investigation. Stick to the facts, and report the facts please -- no spin.
Dion Davi realy did go overboard. But look at what he does for a living. Would it be possible to make the profession of divorce lawyers look any worse?
Nobody would recognize themselves in a description created by an opposing divorce lawyer. Have you ever had a drink? You're a "drunk". Have you ever sworn? You're "verbally abusive". Have you ever lost your temper? You're "threatening". Divorce lawyers on both sides basically work together to milk the parties in a divorce of as much money as possible. They make their money by prolonging and worsening human misery.
Interesting. Seems this "lawyer" in particular is a special kind of stupid. Who attacks the parenting of a missing mother? His insensitivity towards Lisa Stebic's disappearence is only hurting his own image, not to mention making his client look really, really bad.
The Lawyer that is representing Greg Stebic, is a very cold and heartless person, and making things worse for Greg Stebic, the idea of disrespect for Lisa commenting on her being a bad mother just shows the ignorance of this attorney. Greg Stebic allowed him to make these comments if he cares so much about his children he would have defended their mother, even if going through a bitter divorce. Get rid of the attorney and get some one with class. Hopefully Lisa will be found safe and alive, and can be with her children, and get rid of the trash.

My opinion is Lisa did not run away! Everyone says she would never ever abandon her children. I think this lawyer of his knows what happened to Lisa just like Craig does! They need to confess and stop putting Lisa's family thru this horrible time. Like another said in this post, Scott Peterson needs some company.
I feel sorry for these poor children. Why does Craig not let the children talk to the police? Why will he not take a polygraph?
If he is so innocent why will he not do any of these? Too many red flags for me! And why would you file for sole custody not even a week after your wife disappears? I don't care if you are getting a divorce or not! When they find Lisa I hope this #$%^@##@ gets what he deserves! I have personaaly been looking for Lisa every time I am free and not at work, please every do the same and let's find Lisa for the Childrens sake and the rest of Lisa's Family!!!

Well folks that can only happen under 1 condition. that she is alive.
if that is the desired goal., then it has to be a realistic thought that she abandoned her kids and left them to go with someone else....
that is the only option I see where she can "come homme to her children"

While I can't blame Lisa Stebic’s family for trying to keep the issue of her disappearance circulating in the media, I do find the fact that the media keeps running segments with no tangible developments to be both unprofessional and unethical. The liberally dominated media does not continue to regurgitate stories about missing children or women when there are no new or few new developments in cases involving minority communities.
So here we have a typical liberal conundrum. While they purport to advance minority causes and issues they ultimately fail to reflect fairness in their propensity to push missing person cases like Lisa Stebic’s over those involving missing minority persons.
Former NBC reporter Amy Jacobson’s bimbosity served to display the lengths some in her field will go to promote stories that they believe are . Jacobson choose to include her children in her appearance at the Stebic residence displaying a complete lack of judgment by placing them in the presence of a man under scrutiny for the disappearance of his wife in order to advance her agenda.
Of course now Jacobson claims that if she were a man in swim trunks he would not have been fired. Jacobson says, “If I were a man, the story wouldn't be an issue”. Again, typical liberal response. Now the moron who placed her children in jeopardy becomes the victim and claims gender bias is the reason for the reaction. Furthermore she claims a competing news station’s choice to air the event was improper when Jacobsen lack of professionalism, class, and judgment on her part became a story in itself.
Only hypocritical liberals are capable of contorting the facts to fit their own agenda while at the same time claiming to be victims.
