Golly, gee, whiz

When faced with a decision about improving bathroom facilities at Central Park, the council struck a decent compromise. Naperville won't spend upwards of $400,000 on permanent toilets at the park this year, but the temporary potties will be nicer than your typical Port-A-John.

The fix, for this summer's Thursday night Municipal Band concerts and other events, is to spend about $50,000 on a nice trailer-type toilet facility, complete with running water, like the ones used by VIPs at Ribfest. Heck, it's probably even air-conditioned.

This will be great for Central Park users. Maybe it'll be such a hit that it will inspire the city to place another trailer closer to the bustling downtown bar scene this summer to discourage those inconsiderate dopes who urinate in public late at night.

Something had to be done. You can't expect people to spend more than two hours in a public place and not have their kids have to use the bathroom. The new bathrooms sound like they will be nice.

It's stupid they spent any money at all on restrooms for concerts that happen one time a week during the summer. It would be a lot cheaper to let people insde the Concert Center to use the bathroom.
