Jedi Days and Jedi Knights - Naperville Potluck

Jedi Days and Jedi Knights

I'm in Los Angeles for Star Wars Celebration IV, and ready to go!

OK, the first thing I noticed when I hit LA, as I have not as yet seen anyone flying their "Star Wars" freak flag (we're staying in Hollywood and the convention is downtown, today was a travel day, and the convention doesn't get going 'til tomorrow) is GAS PRICES! Gas is $3.38 a gallon here! It's true what they say about us getting ripped off in Illinois.
At Midway Airport, I was wearing a "Star Wars" T-shirt, so I did get spotted by someone headed for the convention. It was the wife of one of the people working on "5/25/77," a movie about the opening day of the original "Star Wars." I thought I'd see some fans at LAX, but it was just the usual airport crowd -- people in way too much of a hurry for their own good.
Tomorrow, I will hit the Celebration Store first to pick up the goodies I will be offering as prizes for my trivia contest here. I will definitely be giving away some of the Ralph McQuarrie C-3PO and R2-D2 figures here (get a peek at them at starwars.com) -- they are CIV exclusives -- so be sure to check in daily for a chance at that. Tomorrow my kids and I will also hit the preview of "Fanboys," which stars, among others, Kristen Bell of the near-departed "Veronica Mars." Tomorrow night is the Opening Ceremony, which, oddly enough, boasts the mayor of LA proclaiming "Star Wars Day." Gee, I'd rather see Mark Hamill, but thanks anyway. At CIII, host Jay Laga'aia (Captain Typho from Ep. 2 and 3) sang the "Weird" Al parody song "The Saga Begins" and was an all-around great host. With the "Robot Chicken" and "Family Guy" previews to look forward to, as well as Carrie Fisher's appearance (I got a ticket!) and other fabulous goodies, it should be a really awesome time.
See you tomorrow.
May the force be with you.

Wendy

Well, since I was unable to go to LA, your blog will have to do. I brought candy to work in an R2D2 bowl that I bought off the cereal box back in 2005. We do have a few Chicagoland fans from the Chicago Force attending the CIV convention, so hopefully I will get to see their pics and hear their stories, too, when they return. Maybe you will serendiptiously (spelling??) run into them at the convention.

A few costumers were on WGN TV News this morning. They then went to the celebration at the Expo Center in Arlington Heights for the release of the stamps.

Looking forward to seeing more of your blogs.

Jesse Jackson Jr. is a big Star Wars fan. He was on CBS showing off the huge light saber collection he has in his basement. It seems like the people who are the biggest fans now are the people who were 14 or younger when episode IV first came out.

If Darth Vader were in a fight with Chuck Norris, who would win?
My gusss, is the guy with better speakeing skills.
