Police seize items from Stebic home

| | Comments (6) | TrackBacks (0)

Authorities late Monday served a search warrant at the home of missing Plainfield woman Lisa Stebic, seizing two vehicles registered to her husband, Craig, while the couple's two children watched from the back seat of a police cruiser.

The question is, what took so long? Why, two weeks after Lisa's disappearance, did police and FBI agents finally assemble enough probable cause to convince a Will County judge to issue a search warrant?

"Jack Booted Strom Troopers break down the doors of the middle of the night terrorizing children, adults and neighbors. When the sun rises all visable methods of going to work, transporting and supporting children are gone."

Is this Russia or China? No this is the Republic of Plainfield, Illinois. What a disgrace!

Yes, a women is missing. However, in America people are PRESUMED innocent. Not in Plainfield, Ill. You are PRESUMED Guilty. The behavior of the Plainfield Police and FBI is DISGUSTING.

Outsider's knee-jerk comment on Plainfield "turning Red" is an ignorant one, I am afraid.
By descending upon the Stebic house, late at night, the SWAT Team, FBI and the Plainfield Police Dep't were able to complete the
rather tough assignment of doing a FULL forensic examination of the missing Plainfield woman's home, without the chance of a possible retaliation by it's heavily-armed owner.
Although Craig Stebic, at one time, was co-operating with the authorities - his increasingly pressured situation & his rather extensive automatic gun collection (complete with AK-47's and many other non-hunting type of automatic weapons) was a possible opportunity for disaster.
The "Midnight Raid" negated this terrible scenario from occuring.
It was a traumatizing thing for the two children, to be sure. But better this than a Stand-off, during which they could have been seriously harmed or even killed?!
The fact remains that Craig Stebic's guns have remained in the house, alongside innocent, motherless young children - with an allegedly abusive father.
These ingredients point to the wisdom of the old quote attributed to Saint Jerome:
"The scars of others should teach us caution..."
(and I would add the words, "Especially when there are children's lives and safety, at stake!")
Craig Stebic was given the Gift of 2 weeks of quiet, moderating interchange with the Plainfield Police Department - while waiting for the courts to decide to issue an in-depth search warrant to his house.
I can guarantee that in China or in the former Soviet Union, Outsider, this amount of time and due process would have never been given to Mr. Stebic.

The behavior of the husband is cause enough to get a search warrant. The soon to be ex husaband's behavior is DISCUSTING, esspecially after filing for custody of the children so SOON after she went missing. NO this isn't russia or China, but All of his actions make him look guilty and by the way the guns alone are enough. He is the only one they should be looking at and I'd bet the farm and then some one the fact that he got rid of her so he wouldn't loose his children and have to pay support. I and many many people applaud the police and FBI for doing this, they know what their dealing with.

The point is that it had to be done morning, afternoon, night or midnight . Plainfield police and other law enforcements in the country know what they are doing. If she was a devoted mother as everyone is saying I doubt she left on her own will and the only person they have to look after at this point is the husband.

Last time I checked, according to our constitution, thankfully, we have a right to bear arms and a right to a fair trial where we are supposedly innocent until proven guilty. Mr. Stebic has been already hung by our local media. Can you blame him for not cooperating with the FBI, they haven't exactly been batting over .300 lately, locally or internationally. They pounce in the middle of the night, his children are suddenly pulled from their beds and "caged" in the back of a squad car for four hours and then they take both his vehicles. He's never been abusive to his children that we're aware of. The only previuos time the police were at his home was when Mrs. Stebic stayed out all night and he locked the doors. I think most husbands might be a little ticked off by that manuever.

He's never physically abused her, certainly the swarm of reporters hounding the story would have found a medical report if one existed. How does he provide any sense of normalcy for his children with reporters and news vans camped out in front of their house day and night. It's time to let this family be. The husband of a missing wife involved in a divorce deserves careful scrutiny as "a person of interest" but, he's innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

His lawyer has advised him not to take a lie detector. Under his current duress I wouldn't either. Lie detector results aren't admissable in a court of law for a reason they are frequently unreliable. I know solid citizens that have failed them and weren't hired while some real crackpots have passed only to turn out to be real jerks to work with. Lets all let the police and the state's attorney's do their jobs and continue to hope and pray Mrs. Stebic eventually turns up. But let's all remember, thankfully in this country, we're innocent until proven guilty.

While I can't blame Lisa Stebic’s family for trying to keep the issue of her disappearance circulating in the media, I do find the fact that the media keeps running segments with no tangible developments to be both unprofessional and unethical. The liberally dominated media does not continue to regurgitate stories about missing children or women when there are no new or few new developments in cases involving minority communities.

So here we have a typical liberal conundrum. While they purport to advance minority causes and issues they ultimately fail to reflect fairness in their propensity to push missing person cases like Lisa Stebic’s over those involving missing minority persons.

Former NBC reporter Amy Jacobson’s bimbosity served to display the lengths some in her field will go to promote stories that they believe are newsworthy. Jacobson choose to include her children in her appearance at the Stebic residence displaying a complete lack of judgment by placing them in the presence of a man under scrutiny for the disappearance of his wife in order to advance her agenda.

Of course now Jacobson claims that if she were a man in swim trunks he would not have been fired. Jacobson says, “If I were a man, the story wouldn't be an issue”. Again, typical liberal response. Now the moron who placed her children in jeopardy becomes the victim and claims gender bias is the reason for the reaction. Furthermore she claims a competing news station’s choice to air the event was improper when Jacobsen lack of professionalism, class, and judgment on her part became a story in itself.

Only hypocritical liberals are capable of contorting the facts to fit their own agenda while at the same time claiming to be victims.
