Bombs away - Naperville Potluck

Bombs away

| | Comments (3) | TrackBacks (0)

Authorities shut down a large part of downtown Tuesday night because a couple of suspicious packages were left along the Riverwalk. The bomb squad was called in, and the items turned out to contain pennies and possibly pieces of parlor games. Was it a prank, or some gifts accidentally left behind?

Either way, what do you think of how authorities reacted? Do you think they did the right thing by closing off streets, keeping people at bay and disrupting business at several downtown nightspots in the interest of public safety? Or did they overreact?

If it did turn out to be a bomb, it could have injured or killed people. You have to err on the side of caution. The police did the right thing.

I agree. The police did absolutely the right thing. Suspicious packages are no laughing matter. A little inconvenience is worth a lot of peace of mind.

Once again the Naperville police department overeacted to a situation within the city limits. With so much time on their hands they have to think of ways to waste the taxpayers money!
