From Naperville to the White House

How cool is it to think that your son-in-law might become president, that your young grandchildren might be raised in the White House and that your daughter is being compared to Jackie O? For the Kellers of Naperville, that's gotta be pretty cool.

Ron Keller is fourth generation Naperville, and he's been director of the Naperville Municipal Band for more than 40 years. Ron and his wife, Vicki, are parents of Jeri Kehn, 40, who married Fred Thompson during a quiet ceremony in 2002 in Naperville.

Thompson, 64, is a former Tennessee senator, "Law & Order" star and likely presidential candidate who just could end up pulling ahead of the pack of Republican hopefuls and snare the nomination. He's got plenty of financial and popular support from party loyalists, some of whom see him as the second coming of Ronald Reagan.

The most charming part of the possibility of President Fred Thompson and First Lady Jeri Kehn is that having young kids in the White House again would recreate a sort of Camelot-like atmosphere. They have a 7-month-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, and there haven't been kids that young living in the White House since John John and Caroline.

Wow, that's pretty powerful sentimental currency when you're able to invoke comparisons to not only Reagan but JFK, too. Thompson, once he officially gets into the race next month, has a legitimate shot at the Republican nomination. So how well do you think he'd do against a Democratic nominee, be it Barack or Hillary?

Another parallel is that Nancy Reagan grew up in Chicago with her mother and stepfather, Dr. Loyal Davis.
