Democrat to challenge Biggert

| | Comments (6) | TrackBacks (0)

Democrat Scott Harper of Naperville will challenge five-term incumbent Republican Judy Biggert of Hinsdale for the 13th Congressional seat next year.

In 2006, Biggert won with 58 percent of the vote over Democratic challenger Joseph Shannon. Biggert defeated Democrat Gloria Schor Andersen in 2004 and she collected 70 percent of the vote against Tom Mason in 2002.

Biggert is known as a friend of the taxpayer, a champion of alternative energy solutions and an advocate for education.

Harper is a doctoral candidate at Oxford who will take time off to seek his first public office.

In a district where the Republicans dominate, maybe the only question is what percent of the vote will Biggert collect in 2008?

Biggert is a hack - a "rubber stamp" Republican who has supoorted this disastrous quagmire in Iraq since Day 1, and continues to waste billions of dollars (friend to what taxpayers) and precious American lives and body parts on a mission to enhance Republican egos. The majority of Americans, even here in the 13th District are against the war. I don't know about Harper, but a Democrat with the right message could easily take Biggert down (and she won't be the only rubber-stamp Republican ousted, either).

Yep - we all saw the Turn DuPage Crew at the parade -- all one has to do is look to the stellar job being done in Cook County ( Blue) and our friends in Springfield ( Blue ) - for an example of what we would get should that happen. Those pictures are worth more than a thousand words each

"mission to enhance Republican egos"? Boy is that a downright cynical and disgusting statement. To suggest that Republicans are for winning in Iraq due to their "Ego's" is ridiculous. You sir are everything that is wrong with politics today. Hate is very destructive Sir.

I say, run Scotty up the flag pole. Let's see if he's just another Democrat nut-job or if he has something reasonable to say. But please, no more Dickie Durbins. Personally I have supported Congresswomen Biggert because for the greatest part I along with many of her constituents considered her obviously correct on the issues. There is a reason Mr. Fasteddie why she has been re-elected you know.

By the way Mr. Fasteddie, there are many out here that understand the importance of this war. Certainly we abhor killing, but we also realize that we cannot afford to lose this war. The Islamic fanatics are not going away. It is imperative that we demonstrate the strength and will of the United States NOW, and directly to them. We have tolerated terrorist attacks for all too long and have finally found a leader, yes, a LEADER with the resolve to face this threat head on. Meeting with them hasn't really worked too well has it? Oh, we do have the United Nations to intercede for the world don't we?

I feel sorry for you Mr. Fasteddie if you cannot understand what is happening in the world. The only newspaper in Illinois that I am aware of that dared to print the cartoon of Muhammad with the bomb in his head piece was the "Daily Illini". The student editor was then summarily fired for doing it. Don't you get it? We are already INTIMIDATED by these fanatics and due to our ridiculous political correctness are in the process of relinquishing control of our country to them. They are very patient, unlike us. Are you aware of what is happening in Europe? Instead of merely spouting talking points please read, pay attention, and think beyond today. No one likes war, but I cannot accept the alternative - being told to buy a prayer rug and have to pray to Allah three time a day or die. Can you?

Congressman Biggert votes well on issues concerning choice and gay rights. Unfortunately she has voted for Faith Based programs, sides with insurance companies, supports the war in Iraq and does not realize that social security is a safety net and that pensions were not gifts to employees, but part of negotiations that was part of the compensation package.

Scott Harper has made his money and then sold his company to pursue a life dream at Oxford. Visit his web site--google his name. He is an extremely bright man, who seems to have a good grasp of the issues.

I was surprissed to see that noone added Ms.Biggert's vote AGAINST children's health care.

Please check Scott Harper's web page. He knows the importance of health care.
