I went into labor 1 month early with my first child....born on April Fool's Day. She fooled everyone as there were no signs of labor. Also, at the time I was a payroll clerk for Menards and the payroll was due at the general office on Monday (April Fool's Day) and when I phoned the store manager he did not believe I was serious...when the afternoon rolled around they realized I was not joking. We called everyone to tell them the news and had to tell them..."This is no joke!" We had the baby!!

This is rather dated, but for someone it might be new.
On April 1st leave a note (E-mail) for a coworker asking them to return an important call from Mr. Wolffe at 708.485.0263. You could also use Mr. Bahr. Yes of course its the Brookfield zoo!

When my daughter was in middle school, I helped her stage an elaborate April Fool's joke on a friend. Her best friend had a chimpanzee beanie baby, Bongo, that she was very attached to. My daughter got her friend to host a sleep-over at her home and "kidnapped" Bongo by hiding him in her overnight bag. We then spent the next few days taking Bongo everywhere with us and taking photos of his adventures--Bongo in a grocery cart surrounded by bananas, Bongo in the dentist's chair, Bongo at Walgreens buying greeting cards with photos of George Bush, Bongo in a dress and hat at an American Girl tea party, Bongo having a beer at a sports bar. We dropped these photos, 2 or so a day, into her friend's mailbox with notes from Bongo saying not to worry, he was having a great time.

But Bongo's fun ended when he was really kidnapped and held for ransom. We dropped off a photo of Bongo, gagged and tied to a doll chair, with a note saying that if a half gallon of mint chocolate chip ice cream was not dropped off at our address before 9 PM that day, then this would happen (Bongo on a roasting pan with potatoes and carrots). Needless to say, we got our ice cream, her friend got Bongo, and we all had a good laugh. But the last laugh was on us.

Her friend, with the help of her mother, put flyers in the mailboxes of everyone on our street with a silly picture of my daughter and her cell phone number, inviting them to our house for ice cream. We figured this out the next morning when my daughter started getting phone calls from our neighbors asking when they should come over for the ice cream party. My daughter had to explain to the callers, then run up and down the street collecting the flyers that hadn't been picked up yet. It was great.

We're still good friends with this family and love retelling this story. But we have never played another April Fool's joke on them, simply because we've never been able to think of anything that tops what we did with Bongo that year.

I once moved a co-worker's car and when we went out to lunch I asked him to drive. When he couldn't find his car, he panicked and exclaimed, "Oh no! I think they repossessed my car!” This was not exactly the response I was expecting.

M2 "There is no way we are going to pay $600K per acre for the BB property. It is simply not reasonable. We will pay what the jury says is fair market". Parent: What if it costs more than $257/acre?" M2 "We know we'll have to pay more and we have budgeted extra money but we can't tell you how much since we will be showing them our cards". Parent: "But what if it costs double?" M2 "... Ha Ha. That is not going to happen." Parent: "How do you know?" M2 "The condemnation suit is a process and we just need to follow through." Parent: "What if this gets delayed" M2 "We will have this wrapped up by the fall. We are also looking at a "quick take option". Parent: "How long will it take to build the school?" M2 "18-24mos so we need to break ground in the fall" Parent "Is there a plan B if we can't get BB?" HC "We do not need a plan B we are confident in the outcome. Even if it costs us $600k/acre we have funds from the referrendum proceeds and other sources" Parent "What about other properties like Macom?" M2 "the voters passed the referrendum based on the boundaries and site chosen to change is not fair and would be a bait and switch"

OK here is the riddle: Who is the fool now? The goofy parents with all the questions or our district leaders? You wonder why people resort to suits when this stuff happens??
