We're in one of those stormy cycles, where just about every day it seems there are new reports of high winds, heavy rains and damage in our area.
People love to talk about the weather. How well do you think local authorities give notice about approaching severe weather? How about the aftermath--how well do the city, townships and other agencies handle the cleanup of branches, etc.
How do you find out about severe weather--TV, Internet, radio, sirens, personal digital devices? What's your worst storm experience?

Last Wed evening we experienced two tornado sirens in the evening as several tornados moved through. Town sirens were heard. It took me twice as long to get home as many streets were blocked off by police due to flooding under viaducts. Many cars could be seen stranded under them. Waters were flooding from lawns to the street.
I'm not sure if it was the winds Saturday afternoon but a couple of lights on 59 where not functioning, which caused my travel time to double from Plainfield to Elgin! Of course a lovely Lexus stalled in the left hand lane also did not help! Traffic was backed up for miles! The furthest north light there were officers directing traffic but the southern one there was not, which created problems at such a big intersection.
Saturday night it took me twice as long to get down south due to 57, 45 & 50 being closed in sections. Street lights being out made it very dark & hard to see large branches down on the side of the road. Officers where directing traffic fairly smoothly & helping motorists find alternative routes. Huge flood lights were brought in on some intersections on Governors Highway. 57 is still closed & no date is given yet on it reopening.
I usually watch my desktop weatherchannel & in the car my XM weather & traffic alert channel.
BTW...your link to the Truck overtun has not been working for a few days now!
