Conservatives see their moment

| 3 Comments | No TrackBacks

With Republicans taking back control of he House and winning many more state and local elections, due in large part to conservative activists such as the Tea Party, many local conservatives see this as the right time to get more people involved..
As one man said: "There's been so much apathy in this country for way too long."
Do you agree? Are you taking part? And is there anything similar to that on the left?

....and a large part of why things swing so much is the work of activists!

It probably benefits everyone that I haven’t “taken part” in any local “activism.”

For about a year now there’s been a man – a Tea Party supporter, he’s made it clear – who sits out on the sidewalk behind his home on Modaff. In his backyard, which is visible from the road, are not one but two Confederate flags.

This gentleman frequently laments the rise of “communists” and “socialism,” etc., etc., on homemade plywood signs he whips up in his garage. Basically, he doesn't want to pay taxes, he wants his country back (from the black president, I assume?), and he firmly supports the status quo and America’s history of institutional racism & classism.

What keeps me from pulling over and screaming at this guy?

He reminds me of my nit-wit Fox-News-watching father. And I love my Dad, the fool that he is.

“Activism.” Give me a break.

"due in large part to conservative activists"

Certainly, what you meant to say there was "due to the normal and expected political cycle, as elections tend to swing between parties"
