As the season's change, so do the sports that we cover. The first game of any new sporting season for me is always a lot of fun.
First of all, I am usually ready to move on from whatever sport just wrapped up and looking forward to a change of pace, but also each sport brings a different background with it.
During basketball season photographers curse the dimly lit interiors of most high school gyms, so when baseball season comes around, being outside at sunset is a blessing.
It's bittersweet though, because as the golden light of sunset blankets the field we are reminded that it is still only March and temperatures near freezing are still the norm. Leaving us wishing for the warmth of a packed gymnasium.

I met Walter at a rally earlier today in Naperville, but among all the commotion never once did he bark or raise a fuss. It made me wonder what Walter would have thought about what was going on...

Blackhawk Cup

Waubonsie Valley played Rockford for the Blackhawk Cup last night at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville. Sadly, The Warriors came up short and fell to the Icemen 4-0.
The whole game I was drawn to these people that were hanging on the glass, even as players were smashed into the boards they stayed right there. This was my favorite from the bunch, but check the paper tomorrow for some more highlights from the game!

Citizen's Police Academy

After photographing this class my respect for the men and women in blue was taken to a whole new level. I could feel the panic in the rooms rise as students would look for their assailants and try to subdue them. Everyone knew the guns were fake, but the feeling was still there. I could not imagine entering a room without any knowledge of it's inhabitants or worse, knowing the guns inside were made of metal and not plastic.

Sectional Bound

In a game that featured more lead changes than a Nascar race, East Aurora defeated Neuqua Valley 62-59 to advance to the Sectional round.
I've posted previously about how many sports we shoot throughout the year, but few of those games top what happened at Bolingbrook high school last Friday night. Neither team ever lead by more than 5 points and down by 3 with 38 seconds left, East Aurora's Ryan Boatright nailed the shot that would send the game into overtime.
Next up for East Aurora- Undefeated and top ranked Benet Academy on Tuesday.
