This past week I was sent to the home of Holly Kammes to photograph chickens. Backyard chickens to be exact. In fact, Kammes has the first legal backyard chickens in the city of Batavia; the ordinance finally passed. This is a good thing for Kammes, since she has been raising chickens for many years and absolutely loves these two-legged animals. Kammes, who has three boys, refers to them as "her girls." While I was running around her backyard trying to capture pictures of these fast moving hens, Kammes announced that three of them needed baths. My ears perked up. Did she say baths? Yes, she did. The hens were pretty dirty and Kammes is bringing them to this weekends Batavia Green Walk as a kind of show and tell about how to raise backyard chickens. And she wants her girls to look their best. So here are a few photos that didn't make it into the paper from bath time.
