Sectional seedings for Class A and AA (don't forget there are now four classes) have been announced. A couple of area teams did pretty well.
In Class A, the Somonauk Sectional is split into two subsectionals. In subsectional A, 10-4 Mooseheart is the No. 3 seed, after Westminster Christian and Immaculate Conception.
That's pretty good spot for a Mooseheart team that has never won a regional. They should get a high seed in whichever regional they are eventually assigned to. My feeling is this is the year for Mooseheart's first regional crown.
In Sub-Sectional B, three Little 10 teams -- Somonauk, Newark and Hinckley-Big Rock -- came in back-to-back-to-back at Nos. 3, 4 and 5. St. Anne and Donovan were the top two seeds.
It's hard to say how much 18-3 Somonauk's loss last week to 13-8 Newark hurt their seeding. They probably would have been at least the No. 2 seed, which would have made them a regional favorite. Now that won't be the case. But with home court in the sectional awaiting, Somonauk could make a run beyond the regional title.
Our area's other Class A team, 12-9 Indian Creek, is the No. 4 seed in a Pecatonica Sub-Sectional.
In Class AA, 9-7 Aurora Christian is the No. 3 seed in the Byron Sub-Sectional and 4-16 Plano the No. 10 seed.

I wonder which Aurora Christian team will show up a tough regional. The Eagles have proven they can play very well - but sometimes they get a little too turnover-happy.
And Mooseheart has the potential to be a great story this postseason.
