Is Idaho Sen. Larry Craig gay or does he just do weird stuff in public restrooms? And geeze, what's the deal with gay Republican politicians? Swami knows all, sees all, and tells as much as libel laws will permit.
If you believe the current swirl in the blogosphere, Craig’s preferences for gay sex are well known among those who pay heed to such things, and apparently the event in a Minnesota airport restroom earlier this summer was not his first foray into that old 1960s hit, “knock three times on the stall if you want me.”
Every conservative Republican seems to be locked in their own closet. Swami is not sure Idaho will even allow him back in the state, much less runfor re-election in 2008. Maybe he can run on the "Sleazeball Party" ticket.
What galls the gay community is that Craig is accused of being a gay-baiting, red-faced bigot and has voted against gay issues for most of his 25 years in Congress. You can be pro-gay or anti-gay, but you can't be a U.S. senator and conduct your "bizzz-i-ness" in an airport restoom and expect no one will notice. Just ask George Michael about that.
The fact Craig loudly announces he wants gays to stay well secured in their secret warrens adds lovely irony. An undercover cop in Minneapolis swung the door open on Craig’s closet, both figuratively and literally.
As a gay right activist suggests about Craig and his political compatriots: “The closet is not a right. The closet is not mere privacy. The closet is an oppressive social institution that distorts and deforms the humanity of those caught up in it.”

(Just like Lance Briggs was "startled" and reported his Lamborghini stolen. Poor decision there, too.)
PS - Wrong decade on the song, Swami-dude. Try 1970-71. The 70's produced some of the most irritating and stupid songs in pop history, including "Knock 3 Times" and "The Pina Colada Song."
