Remembering a Marine

Just to show that Swami is not only a crass, cynical seer of the mystical mysteries, here’s evidencde he has a heart (hard thought it may be). He's giving you a way to do a kind deed and thereby remember a Waukegan lad who gave a lot to all of us.

Though Matthew Medlicott hadn’t been a student at Waukegan High for some years, there are many there who still wish to remember him and memorialize the price he paid as a young Marine.

He was a lance corporal in the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force when he was killed by hostile fire in Anbar Province, Iraq, last month.

His friends at the Alternative School in Waukegan have raised a lighted flag pole in his honor and are seeking donations for the pole and a plaque in his honor.

Friends say he customarily raised and lowered the American flag at the school every day and took the worn flags to the American Legion for proper retirement.

If you wish to give, here’s the address:

Medlicott Memorial Fund
c/o Waukegan Alternative School
1020 Glen Rock Ave.
Waukegan, Illinois 60086
