Who gets what

Swami is tickled pink, or even red, when the bad peolpe get sent off the prison. But not even a sage, wise seer of the great beyond can figure how why some get long sentences for financial crimes while others don't seem to suitably proportional longer sentences for harming chilsdren.

Irit Gutman tried to skunk the federal government with a Madicaid con, got caught, was sentenced to five years in prison and told to repay $2 million.

Good.

Swami hates it when people steal from him, which is what stealing from Medicaid is.

So we know why the Vernon Hills woman got what she got.

We've noticed that some child predators hereabouts don't seem to get sentences that much longer...Does 11 years seem like enough to you for raping children?

Yep, we thought not.

That's why Swami will pay special attemtion to how long the sentence is for Joshua Gordon who was conviicted last week iof raping of a young girl in Beach Park

He could get as little as 11 years or anything up to 37 years.

Considering he hid out for months after being confronted by the child's mother, his lawyer, Gillian Gosch, had a particularly difficult challenge.

Didn't help the cause much to tell the jury that the victim "did not look like a girl who had been raped 11 times."

We're sure what the handbook on abused children says is an acceptable "look".

The child is learning disabled but had enough courage to take the stand in her own cause. Good going, barrister.
