recently bought a van with side and rear tinted windows. If I drive that vehicle through Joliet, and I am stoopped, will police tow my vehicle?

Do u need to have a license plate light on a motorcycle? The more modern sport bikes have kits designed to relocate the plate by the rear wheel and they don't have lights.

my child (15) was riding in someone elses car without a seat belt. The driver was pulled over for speeding and my child was given a ticket for failure to wear a seat belt (ivc 625-ilcs 5/12-603.1). Is this correct or should the driver have been given the ticket for failing to ensure my child was wearing a seat belt

Hello, I drive a BMW M3 and have been pulled over multiple times for no reason given. My car is very bright blue and heavily modified; I'm guessing that's the reason? Anyways, I recieved a ticket today for no front plate. My car came with no bracket to attach a front license plate. I have always kept the plate on the passenger side just in case I got pulled over to explain this. Is it possible for my plate to be displayed inside of the car or does it have to be attached outside of the car? I have been looking for the details on this law to prevent me from drilling into my bumper. Can I affix it on my dash securely(bracket, nuts and bolts) or possibly mount it on my visor and have it always displayed? Thanks for you time.

Dear Randy,
Today i was pulled over for not displaying my front license plate on my 95
accord (rounded bumper no hardware). I had recently received my plates from
the dealer just 5 days ago and put the rear plate on, but not the front
because i wanted proper hardware. When the local officer pulled me over he
decided to give the ticket and no warning. Do i have any chance at
disputing the ticket in court? Or is it a certain ticket?

I heard recently that a "new" law started this month (Aug '07) that made all license plate covers illegal. I found your blog when I was trying to research the subject after a friend got a ticket. I didn't realize there were laws like this (in some form or another) that were already enacted before this month.
My question is - is it just the covers that cover a plate - or does this law also include frames (which may obstruct tags/stickers, but not the plate info).

We recently purchased a used BMW form a dealership in Peoria, Illinois. This vehicle came with tinted windows and we were concerned if we would have any problems with them. We took the car to our State Police Headquarters in Germantown Hills, Illinois to have them take a look at them. The officer said that they were fine. He said it is a very light tint and that the officers are used to the German or foreign cars coming with tints now. He said there may be a chance we may be approached, but they are legal.

Today at lunch I was pulled over by a Peoria Police Officer. I told him the story but he said they are illegal and gave me a ticket with no warning.

I don’t want to do anything wrong and now I am scared to drive the vehicle. Any thoughts????

Can you discuss why there aren't unmarked or marked patrol cars at the
intersection of Route 59 and Route 34 (near Fox Valley Mall)? People are going through red turn signals there ALL THE TIME
when it is busy around the mall. The State or the cities (or Aurora and
Naperville?) can make many, many thousands of dollars a day just going
after illegal turns on red especially on Saturdays and Sundays. I have
personally watched many times waiting for the green (in any five minute
period) about 20 cars northbound going through turn signals (from the
west side of the intersection) that are not green or even yellow. Once
people miss their light and they don't want to wait, they just keep going (
blocking everyone else from proceeding into the intersection)) after their
green lights have expired. I would gladly wait and watch several
officers ticketing the drivers who are turning into and blocking that
intersection. I would ask the state police to go there in an unmarked car
and just watch that intersection for about an hour around 11:00 AM ff. on a
Saturday. There will be hundreds of violations an hour.

Hello, I recently received an illegal transportation of alcohol ticket. The alcohol was from a friend of mine which I didn't realize was in my car. But anyway now I forgot to go to court to pay mine fine and now I received a letter from the state saying that I'm getting my license suspended for a year. Now is there anyway I can get out of losing my license? Thanks.

I got a citation for tinted front windows, and I have a court date. What do I need to do to prove the tint is removed? Pictures are satisfactory? Is there a fine with this? The citation doesn't even state any information, it doesn't have a fine amount or any instructions. It just says go to court on this date. Thank your help.

I have a 2001 Dodge Stratus and was pulled over by an Illinois State Officer for not having a front license plate. The Officer asked would I like to take care of the fine now or later - I wasn't too sure what he meant - but thought he was giving me a ticket & an envlope and that I would have to send in a check for the fine. I said I would mail it in. He said this would not go on my record, gave me a receipt and KEPT my Driver's License. Is that appropriate???? He said that when I send in my money I would get my drivers license back.
I really have never heard of such a process AND - if I was to take care of it then and there - was I going to be paying the Officer? Sounds a bit illegal to me.
