I want to obtain my FOID card in the near future and would like your direction for the steps involved to successfully complete this process. I am not looking for the most expedient process but the most cost effective. Thank you for your time.

Robert, If you go to the State Police website at http://www.isp.state.il.us/ and click on "Firearm Information" on the left, you can download an application. You have to send a photo and $5 and they will process it. There is quite a bit of information on the website regarding FOID as well. Hope that is helpful.
