No Front License Plate Displayed

Dear Randy,
Today i was pulled over for not displaying my front license plate on my 95
accord (rounded bumper no hardware). I had recently received my plates from
the dealer just 5 days ago and put the rear plate on, but not the front
because i wanted proper hardware. When the local officer pulled me over he
decided to give the ticket and no warning. Do i have any chance at
disputing the ticket in court? Or is it a certain ticket?

Thanks
Brian

Brian, 625 ILCS 5/3-413(a) requires both front and rear plates to be displayed. Unfortunately for you the officer you encountered elected to give you a citation rather than a warning the first time. However, you have the right to appear in court and explain the situation to the Judge. If you elect to do so, I would take with you the receipt for the bracket you ordered, and perhaps a photograph of the plate mounted to the vehicle after you attach it. The Judge may dismiss the ticket if you explain the situation to him and provide him proof that you have complied with the law. Thanks for writing,
Randy
