Red Light running in Aurora/Naperville - Trooper Talk

Red Light running in Aurora/Naperville

Can you discuss why there aren't unmarked or marked patrol cars at the
intersection of Route 59 and Route 34 (near Fox Valley Mall)? People are going through red turn signals there ALL THE TIME
when it is busy around the mall. The State or the cities (or Aurora and
Naperville?) can make many, many thousands of dollars a day just going
after illegal turns on red especially on Saturdays and Sundays. I have
personally watched many times waiting for the green (in any five minute
period) about 20 cars northbound going through turn signals (from the
west side of the intersection) that are not green or even yellow. Once
people miss their light and they don't want to wait, they just keep going (
blocking everyone else from proceeding into the intersection)) after their
green lights have expired. I would gladly wait and watch several
officers ticketing the drivers who are turning into and blocking that
intersection. I would ask the state police to go there in an unmarked car
and just watch that intersection for about an hour around 11:00 AM ff. on a
Saturday. There will be hundreds of violations an hour.

Barbara - Naperville

Barbara,
I forwarded your E-mail to the State Police Commander in that area. I am told this intersection is in the city of Aurora's jurisdiction. I also spoke with the Aurora Police Chief's office this morning and then forwarded your E-mail directly to Chief Powell and his assistant. Red Light running is increasingly a problem as traffic gets heavier in the area and people rush or are distracted by things such as their cell phones. I agree that it is very dangerous and likely to cause crashes. Hopefully some additional patrols can be scheduled there and assist in deterring the practice. Thanks for writing.
Randy

Bolingbrook, IL Red Light Speed Cameras - Tickets October 8, 2007

I just found out that there is a town in the Chicago suburbs (Bolingbrook, IL) that is ticketing people via camera for running red lights when they just don’t stop completely behind the white line at intersections or don’t stop completley behind the white line before making a right hand turn on a red light. You don’t know it’s happening and you just get a $100.00 ticket in the mail. This is ludicrous. Those types of things don’t endanger anyone and aren’t worth ticketing usually. It’s that these local towns have heard how much money that is made by these Bolingbrook red light cameras (between $20,000 and $30,000 dollars a month of $100.00 tickets) when they are approached by the camera companies (who want to make sales) and since they always need more revenue for their pet projects and their budget, they always say yes and install them. Then they get all the revenue benefit of a property tax or sales tax increase without the public debate of a tax referendum. Sneaky bastards!
Take action today and make sure your town doesn’t end up like Bolingbrook, IL.These high priced and ridiculous red light camera tickets are going to keep people from paying what they need to in order to meet mortgage payments and afford health-care. Bolingbrook government and police should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of good citizens like this. I am not going to spend any money there at all anymore. They don’t deserve my sales tax dollars. They are acting like mafia, just taking whatever money they want for reasons that would otherwise be considered an invasion of privacy.

I had read all your inputs and it just comes down to Bolingbrook is in need of a re-session before Christmas. From local business allowing greedy mayor mc-claar to let this to take place with Violations in Telecommunications Act. and Several Constitutional Rights. I've listened to several people in the court room and they have already stopped shopping in Bolingbrook, I’ve been to their court twice to observe presiding and the appointed officer should be ashamed sitting in a judges seat below the state seal of Illinois and constituents and I thought he does not care where I do my business. This is our rules. As of today, my family consumer products and business products purchases have stopped all transactions in Bolingbrook IL. Average receipts the past few years are eight thousand to 10 thousand a month. We have taken are business to Dupage County Woodridge. And boy is A Real Place to Grow not a place to be to be choked with high taxes no police protection, obnoxious fees and greediness.

I’m sure that everybody has there own excuse but mine is company vehicle was not driving. And they have not proved to me that I was the driver for the violation.

A police officer can write you a ticket for blowing a red-light straight or turning when you didn’t stop and proceeded thru the intersection that the enforcement we need. not if you past the line.

Mayor mc-claar has past the line of fellow man decentsee and to think I had met the man and told him I respected him highly because my grandfather was a fonder, judge and mayor of a near neighboring town.

He should be replaced I have never voted in my life time because there was no need. but there's always a first. The Schools are shot, the teachers are still students there self. and thats just the tip of the iceburg.

I think mayor mc-claar has forgotten how Bolingbrook has gotten this far and needs a reality check.

Donations are being taking for publicity costs. “Don’t Shop Bolingbrook”

"JUST IN TIME FOR THE SHOPPING HOLIDAYS" OR IS IT! WINTER and the line cannot be proved you past it.

SMILE YOUR'RE OFF CAMERA
Red light program stops after officials say it's done its job!

Six months after police installed traffic signal cameras at three Bolingbrook intersections, they are suspending the program.
The purpose of the program was to teach drivers to come to a complete stop at intersections said Roger Claar, mayor of Bolingbrook. Never intended to be permanent, the cameras have resulted in a drop in accidents, he said.
'We've changed the behavior of drivers, so now we're going to pull it for a few months," Claar~said.

The next few months to see if people are violating red lights~ and right turns on reds."
The cameras were installed in May at Boughton and Weber roads, as well as Schmidt and Pinecrest. Drivers photographed crossing' the white line before coming to a complete stop were mailed $100
tickets.

Bolingbrook police report that in the six months since the cameras operated, accidents at the intersec tions were reduced by an average of 40 percent compared to the same months last year.

Traffic tickets issued by the police department skyrocketed under the everwatchful eyes of the cam
eras. In July, 2,132 tickets for red light violations were mailed, compared to 786 tickets handwritten by officers for other traffic violations during that month. Aithough ticket recipients complain the enforcement program was all about raising revenue, raising revenue, Claar said " he said.it was solely designed to change drivers' habits.

Auther:
""They had forgottn to say giving tickets for passing the white line even know you had stopped before intersection and threats to suspend licenses if not paid even if you were not the driver""

"Nice Rebutal Bolingbrook"

Remember bolingbrooks rules are madeup as we go-along at thier little cable show Channel 6. In the past they had sent a letter/ticket for not registering my dog for 25.00 "" When I think a dog should only be registered once for that life time which it was not re-register every year for 10.00. Lise. IL is Free as long as you can show rabies shots. That ticket over the year has gone to 150.00 in three letters and the last letter I had gotten was threaten to suspend driver privaliges for not paying ticket. Then a letter from the STATE was sent a year later that driving privalages were turned ON and I had never gotten a letter that they were suspended. I think the state caught boingbrook on that one. for a dog tag/parking ticket.

Remember when things were simple.

It rather clear, there are two sides to each story. A similar story appeared in the Naperville Sun earlier this month. It attracted alot of attention for residents wanting to comment.

What was note worthly, once you got passed the initial 8 posts (mainly voicing the Civil Liberty issue)the remainder focused on not just appealing too those previous to obey the Law, but if Naperville was going to install camera's, why not on RT 59.

Turns out DuPage County is in-charge of RT 59.

For our view point the rapid growth of population within the surrounding counties puts a tremendous strain on the Police in general. Employing technology that ultimatly supports the safety and well being of its citizens should be a welcome addition.
