Is it illegal to drive with amber lights on your car if you just have them on for the looks and have no real use for them?

It depends on what type of amber lights you are speaking about. Amber lights such as fog headlamps are allowed in 625 ILCS 5/12-201(b). It further states that parking lamps, if that is what you are asking about, may be used in addition to, but not in lieu of headlamps. Amber FLASHING lights are only allowed on specific vehicles such as tow trucks, snow plows, law enforcement and fire vehicles.

Hope that information is helpful.
