More bad news from the writers strike

Conceding that the current television season cannot be salvaged, four major studios canceled dozens of writer contracts Monday, Zap2it.com is reporting today. Read the story here.

Overall, more than 65 deals with writers have been eliminated since Friday. ABC Studios late last week cut about 25 deals. On Monday, CBS Paramount cut 15, Fox jettisoned about 14, NBC Universal rid nearly 10, and Warner Bros. trimmed three, said people familiar with the situation, according to zap2it.com. This affects more than the current TV season, as pilot season starts in January, and with no new scripts, there will be fewer pilots. Meanwhile, there seem to be more reality shows announced every day, and today, concerts by Celine Dion and Garth Brooks to fill airtime on CBS.
Is this really OK with you? I know I personally would rather have someone deafen me by sticking a screwdriver in my ear than watch a concert featuring Celine Dion, but I am clearly in the minority on this, since the woman sells a half a bajillion records a year. What do you think?
