Sure, it was great to see "Mad Men" win two big awards (and funny to see the Fox TV entertainment reporter say he had never even heard of the show this morning), but Nancy O'Dell and Billy Bush's "banter" made an hour of name announcing too long and painful. I was annoyed this morning when I heard E!'s show was only a half hour, wishing I had tuned in there instead.
Do the Golden Globes, or any award shows, influence what you watch on TV anyway? We've all heard the Hollywood Foreign Press is basically a clique who picks what they like over what is best. So does it even mean anything? Do the Emmys even influence you?
I watched Golden Globes last night because I heard there would be no audience and I wanted to see what it was like. I know other critics are ripping on it today but I didn't think it was too bad. We still got to see short clips of the nominees and find out who the winners were. I didn't miss the lame jokes, tributes and acceptance speeches one bit. I didn't really like the hosts, so I think the format would work even better with better hosts.
