Is 'Eli Stone' irresponsible?

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

the American Academy of Pediatrics has asked ABC to pull Thursday's pilot episode of "Eli Stone," why I review in Thursday's Sun. The controversy? In the episode a mother sues a pharmaceutical company for its vaccine, which she claims caused her son's autism.
Considering this clip below also happens, I think it's a stretch to say this, but the AAP is a pretty respected organization.
WARNING: This clip is not for kids.

FCC proposes fines for nudity ... after 5 years!

According to wire reports, "The Federal Communications Commission has proposed a $1.4 million fine against more than 50 ABC stations for an episode of 'NYPD Blue' that aired nearly five years ago."
"Our action today should serve as a reminder to all broadcasters that Congress and American families continue to be concerned about protecting children from harmful material and that the FCC will enforce the laws of the land vigilantly," Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate says in a statement accompanying the order.

Is "AI" rigged? Naahhhhh....

Joshua agrees with my last post. He says "this show is fake and rigged!" Simon says he is rude and deluded. Who do you believe?

Are "Idol" contestants really amateurs any more?

| | Comments (1) | TrackBacks (0)

There has been a lot of buzz this week, starting with votefortheworst.com, that several of this year's "American Idol" auditioners are actually failed professional musicians. Last night three contestants who were on camera --Carly, David and Michael -- are exposed to have questionable cause to be called "amateur." But is this really any different than Gina Glocksen singing in a bar band? Or Jordin Sparks, last year's winner, who is the daughter of a professional football player? Surely being the child of a pro athlete opens some doors. Does it matter to you in terms of the competition?

Is an auditioner like off-key Monique preferable to a professional?

San Diego "Idol" contestants

There wasn't a lot of note in San Diego. But this guy is kind of funny, and seemed to fit the San Diego motto, which was "never listen to the judges."

He is no Renaldo.

Academy Awards buzz

The show will go on! But will anyone be there? Tucked into the nomination story from AP yesterday was the news that several nominated stars have already said they will not cross the Writers Guild picket line, including Tom Wilkinson (supporting actor nominee for "Michael Clayton") and Tony Gilroy (directing nominee for "Michael Clayton."
Will you watch a star-free Oscar telecast?

The greatest "Idol" auditioner EVER!

Just watch it.

This ... is "American Idol"

There were many lowlights during the season premiere of "American Idol" last night. The girl from Allentown who thought the song "Allentown" was by Bon Jovi, the girl who thought wearing her hair like Princess Leia made her unusual enough to go to Hollywood, but the definitive lowlight was this guy, who wrote a love song for Paula Abdul. Watch, if you dare.

More bad news from the writers strike

Conceding that the current television season cannot be salvaged, four major studios canceled dozens of writer contracts Monday, Zap2it.com is reporting today. Read the story here.

When are the Golden Globes not the Golden Globes?

Sure, it was great to see "Mad Men" win two big awards (and funny to see the Fox TV entertainment reporter say he had never even heard of the show this morning), but Nancy O'Dell and Billy Bush's "banter" made an hour of name announcing too long and painful. I was annoyed this morning when I heard E!'s show was only a half hour, wishing I had tuned in there instead.

What are you watching?

I made some suggestions the other day here. Are you watching "Bruno vs. Carrie Ann"? Or are you just waiting for "American Idol"?
